MONDAY::
We have to leave our lovely room today, too bad! We are looking forward to the new part of town at the Island Colony, it is in the bustling part of waikiki right next to the canal and golf course (i havent played yet but plan to attempt 9 holes one of these days)
We spent the morning laying around by the pool at the Illikai - our first foray in our bathing suits!
There were some crazy Florida gals there that wanted drinks at 10am, so we felt the need to join them. When one of them said "did we get kicked out of that bar last night?" we knew they were our kind of girls! (a-she didnt remember, b-they are wild
enough to get kicked out!)
We ran up and packed (late), and had our favorite bellman Thomas help us out (from day 1, he recommended the bartender Tim). He said he would miss us, that is so sweet! Note the astounding amount of bags and crap we had - Coki shipped a lot of it back home (it was work stuff, really we do travel lighter than this!)
It was so hectic we forgot to eat all day. By the time we checked in to the Island Colony, we barely remembered what we did or said until we plopped down at the restaurant.
The view from our new room, 22nd floor - that is the golf course on the other side of the canal. We can also see the mountains to the right...
We were really craving our nice spicy mexican food, so we found the one mexican place here - La Cucarachas. After a margarita and a surprisingly very good meal we felt sane again, and ready to go out on the town!
Paul finally called us back (he blew us off for days, he is just so busy with all his many dates) so we went to meet Erik and Paul at Dukes on the beach. And we got Lei'ed again! Paul is so good to us. I forget what flower this is on Coki below, but it smelled soooo good! We still have them in the room and they are the most fragrant flowers I have ever seen.

TUESDAY::
Well we are still out, it is after midnight at Duke's. We decide to wander the streets and head for home. walking along we find this nice little hole in the wall sorta dive-y bar and we just got sucked right in the door! Bartender Wayne was so good to us (by the way, they do not have Jamesons nor Brendans around here). Erik was walking with us (Paul had taken off hours earlier, he had to work on his presentation for his trip to Maui Wednesday), and we chatted with Bobby (pronounced bubby) from Scotland, Kenny the very drunk guy, and Wayne the bartender. Bubby was very cool, he is going to send Coki a christmas card. He is retired and traveling around enjoying himself.
What exactly WERE we trying to do here? After all those drinks from Wayne we dont know what the thought was..Erik is just feeling very lucky right here!

This is Wayne working away, and Coki with Kenny trying not to look scared (no really, he was very nice)

Now it is actually Tuesday early morning, we had our air conditioner replaced. The engineer came in the room 3 times and fully replaced the unit and Michelle never woke up - sleeps through train wrecks (especially when SUPER hung over!!)!
We had plans to go Hog riding with Ken and Cully (Cully if I spell that wrong I am so sorry!). Michelle is too hungover but Coki is a trooper. So after Ken gives Michelle a huge ration of shit about being a Boulder girl, cant hold her liquor, etc, they take off on the bikes - over 100 miles! Up to Waimea bay area to check out the scenery - wonderful boy babes for coki, wonderful gal babes for the guys. Coki returns at 7pm with a slightly sore back and fully in the mood to go out again. I wimp out and see the movie Being John Malkovich. It was great, very original and had its funny moments as well. I AGAIN take the usual ration from Ken about going to see Bambi and other boulder girl slings. They hit the biker bar - it has food, pool, drinks, harley parts and service store - the only thing it doesnt have apparently is a name (this is a very fun bar and the owner, Mike is a great guy....what a concept. Talk about one stop shopping!) . They were supposed to call and tell me where to find them, but didnt. ah well, more sleep for me!
I need to add some little tidbits about my day here......it was truly amazing!! I recommend seeing this island on a Harley ANY day! Ken and Cully, I will permanently be indebted to you for a magical, exhilarating and beautiful day! Hawaii is so lush, and green and I got to go to the "non-touristy", real and soulful part of the island! We even capped our day with a sunset over Waimea Bay and a rainbow over the green valley behind us. Ahhhh. Sorry, didn't want to take the camera on the bikes, so these photos will have to remain permanently securely in my head (and all for me)! Somehow that seems wildly appropriate!
Tomorrow we go the north beach area to look around, try to sea kayak and watch other people surf....our first real beach day (can I just say that I, Coki, plan to surf tomorrow AND drag Mimi out there with me....Erik and I are totallly in cahoots on this one...heh heh heh)!
